WOMEN EDUCATION

Napoleon, once, had said, “Give me one hundred women and I will give you a  good nation.”

According to Vivekanand “If you teach a man you teach a person but if you teach a   woman you educate

whole family.”These sayings tell us that a woman plays a very important role in making a nation strong. In

India before Independence, no emphasis was given to women education. After    attaining freedom, it

became essential for India to popularize women education. The education should be purposeful. The

education should aim at making good citizens. A woman is an ideal of compassion, kindness, charity and

self-control is essential for human being and compassion and charity create pure thoughts in the mind.

In our Indian society a woman enjoys several positions. She is a mother, a daughter, a sister and a

saviour of a family. She is a symbol of self-sacrifice. If a woman is educated she will do a great benefit to

the nation. The government is doing a lot for the women education. Now-a-days many women are

working in various fields. Women are well placed in the field of medicine, engineering, politics, research,

judiciary, police service, administration, aviation, science and technology etc. Kalpana Chawla, Sunita

Williams, Kiran Bedi, P.T. Usha, Bachandri Pal are examples of leading personalities in their respective

fields. First women president of India Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil is a mile stone. Women can acquire

any leading position with the help of education. Society should remove obstacles from their path. Women

have the power to change the world. Let them walk in step of progress and prosperity.
